Summer Fling: A Day to Unwind

Our 2018 retreat took place at the Batavia Library on August 18. The morning session was a class in mosaic knitting taught by Darlene Joyce from Mosaic Yarn Studio in Mount Prospect, IL. Mosaic Knitting is an easy way to work with two colors—you never have to knit with two colors at once, and the pattern is created by slipping stitches.

After lunch and a little shopping (Mosaic Yarn Studio, Backyard Fibers, and Paper or Threads) we received knitting patterns and cotton yarn for a variety of make-and-take washcloths.

There was a basket raffle for donated yarn and patterns, and every participant was entered into another raffle for gift certificates from area restaurants. In addition, each attendee received a goodie bag with soap and notions, as well as a surprise bag with a skein of yarn and a pattern.
